Strawberries Say Summer

Strawberries Say Summer

Summertime Fun is this month’s theme for the Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party. In my mind, summertime begins with strawberries from Hoogstraten and I was lucky enough to be in Belgium to taste the first strawberries of the season this year. And it sure was fun to eat them!

I stamped the strawberry image multiple times with Crumb Cake ink on pink card stock to make the background for my sweet birthday card. The dots of the Vintage Labels 18 stamp reminded me of strawberries, which is why I used that particular frame.

Bargello Revisited

Bargello Revisited
It has been several years since I’ve used the bargello technique on a card (you can find a great bargello tutorial on splitcoaststampers.com). I thought it would be fun for the small shoebox swap I’m attending at Fort Meade today. Since there will only be 11 of us, the cards don’t have to be 10-minute cards. We have all day to make them (and eat, and laugh, etc.)!

I didn’t want to cover up the background, so I just finished off the card with a sentiment on a decorative label and a die-cut flower. Hope the girls will like it!

Thanks for the EV Memories

EV Thanks
Today marks the 99th anniversary of the first Electric Sociability Run, when 54 electric car owners gathered for a scenic drive through the parks of Washington, DC and enjoyed an afternoon picnic. My DH organized a similar event to commemorate the occasion, and I will be driving my little electric Think City to Rock Creek Park. Back in 1914, Mrs. R. B. Emerson won first prize in the sociabilty run (most of the drivers at the event were women). I just hope I don’t get lost!

I found this cool car image by Penny Black to make a few ‘thank you’ cards for the volunteers at the event. It sure looks like one of the vehicles they were driving 99 years ago.

Thanks for stopping by!

Featured Stamper: Gayatri Murali

Featured Stamper: Gayatri Murali

After being gone on a 3-week vacation to Belgium, I find it hard to get back into stamping. Luckily, there is the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS and it is nice to just be able to CASE a lovely card (Gayatri’s Have a Special Day! card, in this case). I left off some of the embellishments she used, but used a fancy circle die-cut for my focal image.
