Melanie’s Ombre Technique

Melanie's Ombre Technique

After frustrating the participants of the last shoebox swap I attended with a card that took a while to put together, I created a very quick and easy one for the swap we’re having today. It all started when I first saw Melanie Muenchinger’s ombre technique. And then this week’s sketch challenge on SCS provided the perfect layout, with just a small oval tag near the bottom of the card. Sometimes it pays off to procrastinate in getting your shoebox swap card designed!

Mother Teresa Quote

Mother Teresa Quote
My last card for this month’s Viva la Verve! sketch challenges was built around this amazing quote by Mother Teresa: “Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” Week 4 called for a clean and simple card, and I decided to highlight a long sentiment in the oval focal point. The Kind Words stamp fit perfectly inside the Radiant Rectangles die-cut frame, and I used second-generation stamping with the flowers in order to keep the focus on the words.

Thinking of You

Thinking of You
This card was totally inspired by the photo accompanying the Viva la Verve! Week 3 sketch challenge. I embellished the dotted patterned paper by stamping Accent Notes images in gray and green ink. You may have noticed that (after I had stamped the entire pattern!) I dropped my green stamp and left a second generation impression. Ah well, such things happen. Too bad the stamp didn’t fall in the center of the paper, where it would have been covered by the stripe-embossed panel.

Brighter Days Ahead

Brighter Days Ahead
A friend of mine is recovering from surgery and I hope this card will cheer her up. I used the Viva la Verve! June Week 2 sketch and three different sheets of the Cheerful Treat DSP. Even the sentiment was stamped on patterned grid paper. It was the first time I played with the White Enamel Accents, and I must say I really love how easy it was to make these perfect little raised dots!

For Gita

For Gita
I’m hoping my little sister has received her birthday card by now — for once I think I mailed it on time! Thanks to the Viva la Verve! June Week 1 sketch challenge I didn’t have to start from scratch with this card. After deciding which patterned paper I wanted to use, the card came together very quickly. You may have noticed that I tried to color the One Person flower image to match the background flowers. A little bling was added to the center of the flower — not too bulky for overseas mailing.

Thanks for stopping by!
